As is the hope of all breeders; at Iron Gate our goal is to protect and preserve this ancient and remarkable breed for generations to come.

We carefully plan each breeding in accordance with the breed standard and a strong regard for the classic type.

With that being said we strive first and foremost for a sound and outgoing temperament, health and longevity and lastly conformation as close to the breed standard as possible.

It is our uncompromising belief that our Deerhounds should be able to go out into the world and become ambassadors for the breed touching all those they meet with the magic this ancient hound embodies.

At Iron Gate our creed is "Iron Sharpens Iron" from Proverbs 27. It is ever our hope that one generation hones and improves the next for the betterment and longevity of the breed.

Adding a Deerhound Puppy to your family.

We do our best to match puppies and owners as we are able. Because this is of the utmost importance to us a place on a list does not denote a promise from a particular litter. We want your puppy to be a lifelong companion and carefully match them to be such.

We love to help families in whatever way we can and are here to guide you on your way. If we can refer you to a fellow breeder or introduce you to our hounds we are most happy to do so.
